Holocaust Memorial Day

Friday 27th January was Holocaust Memorial Day. Holocaust Memorial Day is about commemorating all the communities who suffered as a result of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution, and demonstrating that the Holocaust is relevant to everyone in the UK today. It also provides a focus - through national and local events and activities - for people to think about the continuing repercussions of the Holocaust on our society and those still living with its consequences.

In recognition of HMD and also the wider LGBT History Month, NLGBA is proud to recognise the experiences of Lesbians & Gay Men during the Holocaust. An exhibition documenting the Nazi persecution of Gays and Lesbians including some survivor stories and photographs is on show at NLGBA offices during February. The exhibition is at NLGBA and will be open to public view Tuesday - Thursday 12 – 4pm until 28.02.06 or at other times by arrangement.

There are also a number of additional events taking place around the county, a full programme of which can be viewed here. It is recommended to contact venues prior to attendance at several of these events as booking may be required.
