The Future of NLGBA

For those members that might not be aware, our core funding is provided by Northamptonshire County Council. As for most voluntary sector organisations this tends to come in a three year package. Our current three year funding round expires in March 2007. This has led to the need to submit a bid to the County Council for continuation funding from 2007/2008 for the next three years.

Part of our consolidation, and hence reduction in overall projected costs has been to take the opportunity of the expiration of the lease at Charles House, to work out of the NCompass offices. Feedback so far from users has been that they like the new premises, and the partnership with NCompass has not compromised service provision. On that basis it is likely that the arrangement will continue, particularly as NCompass has provided a formal commitment to the NLGBA Executive for as long as it is funded as a voluntary organisation.

This has meant that our bid to the County Council has been able to be reduced by some 25% maintaining the same service level, plus also with some tapering of that funding over the following two years. This will clearly make our bid both realistic and achievable. Hovever at present it is difficult to predict an outcome, and we will not hear until March 2007 making planning post April 2007 a challenge.
