Northamptonshire Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Alliance were overjoyed by James
Hyland’s guilty plea in the murder of Michael Fardon on July 14th
2007 in Northampton Town Centre. Chief Executive Stuart McQuade said “This
is the result we were hoping for and praise the police & court for
achieving the deserved result for this heinous act. Gay people across
the country will be overjoyed as so often homophobic hate crimes have
watered down charges and sentences”.
We would also single out the management of the Boston Clipper for their
persistent campaigning against Hate Crime since Michael’s pointless
death We know that many have been highly critical of the lack of public
‘outcry’ that Michael’s murder caused especially from
MP’s and other community leaders but praise the police for their
excellent community liaison during the
ongoing investigation.
