Information and Support Services

There are a number of ways in which you can contact NLGBA for information and support; by email, post, telephone or in person. Please see the contact page for details.

Information

At the NLGBA offices we hold an extensive range of information resources and leaflets covering a wide range of topics and for specific client groups such as men, women, young people and ethnic minorities. These include information on sexuality, coming out, sexual health, HIV treatment and medication, mental health, the law, victim support and much more. Most of these are free for you to take away.

We also have a large database of contacts for other specialist organisations should you require further information or support.

You are welcome to drop into the office and have a cuppa while you browse this information, surf the internet or read the various gay and lesbian publications we have available.

Support

Social Groups

GayLine Groups are social groups that meet weekly across the county for LGB people or those questioning their sexuality to meet and relax in a safe space with like minded people. As well as being an opportunity to socialise the groups can be a useful way to get information and support. We also run other specialist social groups. For more info go to the Groups page.

Counselling

If you feel that you have problems that you can’t cope with on your own and need to talk them through in depth we can arrange for you to see one of our counsellors. These people are all fully trained and understand the particular problems that LGB people often face.

Advocacy

Sometimes LGB people experience other difficulties because of their sexuality such as problems at work with colleagues or the boss or issues around housing or accessing public services. Maybe you’re being harassed or bullied or experiencing abuse at home. If so then NLGBA can help. We can provide you with an advocate who will take you through the different options you have and speak to the parties involved on your behalf, helping you through this difficult time.
