What is SNAP The SNAP project’s mission is to provide countywide outreach and support for all men who have sex with men. We offer a free, confidential and non-judgemental HIV and sexual health information service for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men. This includes up to date information on all Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including HIV and AIDS and how they are transmitted. We can offer sympathetic support and advice on a range of issues including whether or not to have an HIV test or what to do if you have tested positive and how to practice safer sex. We can also make referrals to other services and specialist counsellors as appropriate. As part of the SNAP project’s service we provide SNAP packs containing free condoms, lube and info across the county. If you are concerned that you may have contracted an STI or been exposed to HIV and want to talk to someone about what to do next then please contact us as soon as you can. If you know that you need treatment or want to have an HIV test or sexual health check up you can contact the Northampton Department of Sexual Health at the address below. The service is free and confidential, appointments and drop in clinics are available. Northampton Department of Sexual Health Tel: 01604 637203 (9am - 5pm weekdays)
Each SNAP pack contains two extra strong condoms and a sachet of lube in a handy little plastic bag. As well as these essentials the pack has information on how to use the condoms safely and effectively. We also use the packs to run relevant information campaigns which change on a quarterly basis covering subjects like STI’s and HIV, safer cottaging and cruising and reporting hate crimes along with useful contacts for information and support. SNAP packs are available free of charge from local gay pubs, selected cruising areas and cottages and NLGBA. You can also have free condoms and lube sent to your home by contacting NLGBA.
